From seeking inspiration from a GIF image that I found on Google, I ended having a 24fps 2D animated little dancer! The video above shows me using the GIF image of a dancer performing a 'Fouette' (a pirouette performed with a circular whipping movement of the raised leg to the side) as a reference to key frame my animation from start to finish. I then went on to pose the hair which I found to be quite challenging due to my character having a large mass of hair. I did not let this stop me from achieving my end goal. The next stage was inbetweening before moving on to clean-up, then colouring and finally, staging and lighting.
3D Fouetté Loop
Using the original 2D animation the I created in Procreate as reference, I created a CG version of the cycle performed by my Wizardosaurus character, Darcie.
Created in Autodesk Maya. 30 frames at 24fps.
